Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking for a therapy experience that goes beyond quick fixes and focuses on long-term growth, H1 may be a great fit. We take care to match you with a therapist based on your unique needs, goals, and personality—not just availability or payment method. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to schedule a consultation to help you decide.

We are actively working toward accepting insurance starting in Fall 2025, beginning with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Priority Health, and Optum/UnitedHealthcare. In the meantime, H1 therapists are considered out-of-network providers, and patients are welcome to submit superbills to their insurance carriers for potential reimbursement. We also offer a sliding scale and alternative options for those in need of financial assistance.

We work with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. Basically everyone :)  Our clients come from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and life circumstances, but they share one thing in common: a desire for real, lasting change and a deeper understanding of themselves. We view people as people - not just symptoms - and our approach is designed to help nearly anyone with any symptom.

We strongly recommend that patients begin therapy on at least a weekly basis. In some cases—especially during periods of high stress or significant life transitions—we may suggest more frequent sessions to support deeper work. While bi-weekly therapy is an option, it tends to be less effective and is generally reserved for those who have already done consistent weekly work and are focused on maintaining progress.

Absolutely. If there’s a particular therapist you’d like to work with, let us know. If you’re not sure, we’ll guide you through a brief matching process to help find the best fit.

Yes. Many of our therapists offer virtual sessions via a secure platform, and some provide in-person therapy as well. We’ll work with you to determine what format fits best.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Our approach is designed for long-term, transformational work, not quick fixes. Some clients stay in therapy for months, others for years. We’ll regularly check in about what’s working, what’s shifting, and how you’re feeling about the process.

Not at all. Therapy at H1 is about more than crisis management—it’s about growth, clarity, and living more fully. Some clients come during times of major stress or transition, while others seek a deeper understanding of themselves or support in making meaningful changes.

Some of our therapists specialize in working with adolescents and children. If you're seeking therapy for a young person, we’ll carefully match you with a clinician who has the appropriate training and experience.

That experience matters—and we’ll take the time to understand it. We know that not all therapy is helpful, and we aim to offer something different: a relationship built on respect, trust, and real understanding. If you're open to trying again, we're here to do it differently.
